Headache Relief

Headaches can be brought on by a variety of issues - stress, overused shoulder and neck muscles, sinus issues, and many others. Many people don’t realize that chiropractic care may be able to help with the issues that are leading to the headache. Dr. Daniel Lewis, of Handcraft Chiropractic, has been using his training to help Fort Lauderdale, FL, area residents with their aches and pains.

Chiropractic Care and Headaches

As stated before, chiropractors are not the first doctors people may think of when they have a headache. This is understandable, since they may think of chiropractic as being concerned with the lower back. However, there are certain kinds of headaches that, being caused by imbalances in the musculoskeletal system, are right in the wheelhouse of a chiropractor.

Misaligned Vertebrae

If the vertebrae along the spinal column are not in proper alignment, this can lead to muscles having to work extra hard to compensate for the load the spine normally carries. Nerves emerging from the vertebrae in the neck could also become pinched, leading to radiating pain.

By realigning the vertebrae, this corrects the load of the spinal column and reduces the pinching that it may cause.

Pulled/Overworked Muscles

When the muscles of the neck and shoulder become overworked or inflamed, this can lead to headaches. In addition to spinal adjustments, Handcraft Chiropractic also offers electrical stimulation therapy to the target muscle groups. Electrical currents are used to reduce inflammation and improve blood flow, which improves healing and recovery time.

Tension

In addition to inflammation, electrical stimulation therapy can treat tension. By using controlled currents, electricity is used to force a state of tension in the muscles (if already tense, brought to a higher state), then released. Repeating this can lead to inducing relaxation in the problem muscle and those that counterbalance it.

Therapeutic Exercises

There are also exercises that can be done at home that can be of benefit. Our team can coach you in techniques that can help you with your work, academic, or home processes that may be leading to headaches.

If you are dealing with headaches and in the Fort Lauderdale, FL area, don’t continue dealing with the pain. Reach out to Handcraft Chiropractic to schedule a consultation with Dr. Daniel Lewis at (954) 507-5158 today!
